We spent most of the day working in the garage and the yard. Then Ian asked if we could make a cake for dinner. I almost said no…

Outdoor Challenge

April 2011 093

Last year around this time, I realized that I was neglecting one of the most important aspects of our day – my time spent just *being* with my children. This year, as we are in the final stages of preparing to adopt two more kids, my mind is full of the many things we need to do, and I am constantly rushing to the next step in my day. There will always be more to do, but I don’t want to spend these last weeks rushing ahead and missing the point.

So, I am officially starting the second annual outdoor challenge. My goal is to post a picture every day of the time we spent, preferably time outside. (if anyone wants to play along, feel free!)

New Bikes

New Bikes for the older two, and a new helmet for Micah.

Chava graduated from the tricycle to a bike with training wheels. She has been asking for a “pink and purple bike, with ribbons, a horn, and a basket.” when she saw this one, she was sold. It doesn’t have a horn, but it does have a bell.

And Ian wanted a bike that was fast and tough. Along with his new bike, he has new permission to ride where his brother and sister can’t. I have to say, it makes me feel proud and amazed to have a boy that can really ride a bike.
