My Mother’s Day Gift…
May 17th, 2010My boys worked hard to build me the clothes line that I’ve been wanting. Ian helped Daddy work, while Micah took a more supervisory roll. Chava took care of the measuring tape.
My contribution was singing “It Ain’t Gonna Rain No More” (as my long-suffering husband tried to beat the rain and get the thing built…), and doing tricks with the left over nails.

May 16th, 2010Bouncy Seat
May 15th, 2010After five years of daily use (often by toddlers well over the recommended weight limit…) our bouncy seat has finally broken. It was the only piece of baby equipment that we picked out, when we knew we were expecting Ian. It’s been a favorite of our babies, and we’ve spent many nights bouncing them to sleep in it. It’s been dragged outside, used as a race car, and shared by multiple siblings at a time. It’s bounced dolls, stuffed animals, and teething children. It’s a little sad to see it go.
Art Requires….
May 6th, 2010Beauty Parlor
May 5th, 2010Today I had my first manicure since my wedding. (Can you tell which kid did which hand?)
And the boys got haircuts. I can never decide if Ian looks older or younger with short hair. I like it better long, but I think it’s cute short, too. And he’ll be a lot happier this summer.
I hate getting Micah’s hair cut, and I haven’t recovered enough to post a picture yet.
Greens Make Me Happy
May 3rd, 2010Monsters
May 2nd, 2010Ian made these two little guys today, and I loved them. The pictures just don’t do them justice. I told him they were very cute, and he explained to me that they were monsters – they weren’t supposed to be cute. Which is too bad, because I admit to a slight bias, but I think they are adorable.
Speaking of cuteness, the kids also found this in the garden today.
Technical Difficulties
May 1st, 2010I haven’t forgotten about my goal to post pictures, and I haven’t fallen of the face of the planet… but I have been having some technical issues. And along with that, we haven’t been home much. We’ve been spending our time gallivanting around town, hanging out at parks and friends’ houses.
Today was no exception – but we did make time in the morning for hanging out and creating as a family.
Chava stayed inside, working on her project. She had very specific ideas about how it should look.
The boys took their project outside, to recreate Ian’s gun. He had made it with a glass bottle, and I wasn’t comfortable with him carrying it around with him. So Daddy, Ian and Micah remade it. I wish I had a picture of the original, because it was an extremely creative contraption (and it really shot). The second version turned out to be extremely creative, as well… and it really shoots. Just what a mommy wants.
This wasn’t a part of either project, it was just some silliness before the supplies got put away. The kids were ‘raining’ feathers. Don’t love the mess, but I loved the colors.
We spent the rest of the day hanging out and having fun. We took the kids to their first baseball game; watching a friend of theirs play at the park. We ran a couple of errands, including grabbing some more art supplies that we have been needing. When we got home, Ian wanted to do school – so he sat down at the table and had me “teach” him about rivers. We worked on another project for a bit, then dinner.
We ended the night with an impromptu Can-Can party. I don’t have any pictures, because I was already trying to dance while holding a baby, and laughing too hard to breathe. You all will just have to imagine the five of us attempting to do a Can-Can chorus line.
